Welcome to our ministries page.  At St. Paul's, we organize our work of worship and ministry, as well as our care for each other, through a variety of Commissions.  If you would like more information about serving on any of these Commissions, please contact the person indicated or let Fr. Buildings and Grounds 

Oversees and evaluates all church facilities to ensure regular maintenance of property within a long range and fiscal mindset.

Archives: Elizabeth Monette

Maintains all parish archives pertaining to the origin and history of the parish, mandates and pastorals of the bishop, registers for an accurate record of baptisms, confirmations, marriages and deaths, and of the spiritual condition of souls visited in the parish as well as the books pertaining to the administration of the finances of the parish, with detailed inventory of all church property.

Gardens: open

Parishioners volunteer to tend and care for St. Paul’s gardens which provide a welcoming beauty and quiet meditative sanctuary. 

Labyrinth: open

The permanent outdoor labyrinth is an ancient means of contemplative prayer in which a person engages in a “walking meditation” in a metaphorical journey from the outer chaotic world, finding the source of peace deep at its center, and out again along the same pathway, renewed by the experience.

Columbarium: Nick Firestone and Don Wools

Develops policy and maintains the columbarium.

Site Planning (ad hoc)

Makes a comprehensive assessment of all church property (grounds and facilities) and plans and implements specific short-, medium-, and long-range plans for the use of the property as it relates to the strategic plan of the parish.

 

Communications

Oversees and coordinates the design and production of all printed materials, public relations and advertising to ensure a consistent and proper image;  administers the purchase, installation and maintenance of staff computers, software and systems; coordinates with website designer to ensure proper image and timely information.

Monthly publication indicating all the parish news and upcoming activities.

Aid in various occasional office needs: reception, pew organization, mass mailings, etc.

Finance Committee

Aids the Vestry by providing ongoing oversight regarding the congregation’s operating budget as determined by annual giving, as well as aids in the education of the congregation in relation to financial stewardship.

Stewardship:

Working in conjunction with the Finance Committee, designs, plans and implements the annual giving program.

 

Formation

Plans, creates, and implements regular opportunities for adult and children’s education, including the Sunday Adult Forum, the Wednesday evening Lenten series, Sunday School, and other special events as they arise.

Small group that studies various biblical books or themes; Tuesdays at 7:00 PM (Lowney); Wednesdays at 10:00 AM (Vance).

Children’s Ministry: Annettia Doll

Classes and curriculum available during the 10:15 service through the regular academic school year for school-aged children.

Offered to adults and teenagers in consultation with parents to determine readiness to make the mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of Baptism (includes Reaffirmation and Reception).

Education for Ministry (EfM): Melissa zur Loye and Barb Parker

Education for Ministry (EfM) offers participants the opportunity for discovery and education to facilitate a faithful response to baptismal ministry and the call to Christian service.

Instruction by appointment and/or via group instructional offerings as need arises.

special event seminars: various

As need becomes apparent.  Examples include Lenten retreat weekends and Christian financial concept teachings.

Sunday adult forums: Adult Ed Committee/Fr. Marc

Presentations and teachings on various topics germane to the Christian life.

youth group: Holly Woods

Youth in grades 6-12 meet on the first Sunday of each month for food, fellowship, and fun.

weeknight programs: various   (seasonal – esp. Lent; Advent, other?)

Provides education, guidance, planning and implementation of efforts to foster and promote our Christian ministry presence in our local community, diocese, national and international church, and the world.

Pastoral Care

Provides oversight to the meeting of pastoral needs.

Provides visitation as needed by clergy and trained lay pastoral visitors to parishioners in area hospitals.

 

Parish Life

Provides opportunities for members to become incorporated into the life of St. Paul’s.

Agape: Barb Parker

Meets the needs of parishioners during times of illness or other family stress which include offering rides to church or grocery, light shopping (food or medications), loneliness, etc.  Provides home-prepared meals to parishioners with acute needs.

coffee hour: various (sign up)

Various individuals or groups who provide goodies and information during general fellowship following the 8:00 and 10:15 AM services.

Fellowship: Jay Foyst

Provides opportunities for the congregation to gather for fellowship, celebration and fostering relationships.

Welcoming/Newcomers: Chuck Boddie and Andrew Goldsmid

Oversees ministries of the greeters, tracks those who return to St. Paul’s after visiting or who become members, takes gift bags of information and jelly to first-time visitors, and offers quarterly seminars and dinners.

receptions: Kim Swope

Provides receptions for VIP guests, arrivals/departures (esp. clergy) or other events as they come up.

 

Worship

Provides oversight of the implementation of services; evaluates present and future worship programs; offers training for worship leaders; and ensures the availability of necessary worship resources; assists rector in planning and implementing details of worship (seasonal, special days e.g. graduates’ Sunday, etc.)

Youth and adults who assist the clergy in worship services.

Altar Guild: Kelli Thompson

Provides the necessary preparation and closing activities for all worship services, including weddings, funeral and the normal service schedule.

Assists in the administration of Holy Communion during services.

Daughters of the King: Teresa Woods

Encourages and enables all to be reflections of God’s love, reaching out through prayer, service and evangelism to spread His kingdom.

healing: The Rev. Wendy Manley

Laying on hands, anointing with oil, and prayer for self or others during the 10:15 service and other times, as determined.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors: Fr. Marc

Offers pastoral visits with the administration of Holy Communion to home-bound or hospitalized parishioners.

lectors: Fr. Marc

Reads the lessons from Holy Scripture during worship services.

Provides music leadership for the worship services of the church.

Provides loving care to the youngest members of the parish during the 10:15 service.

Consists of two people who record the pledge and plate offering into the financial records following the Sunday services.

Offers hospitality to guests and members by welcoming all, helping to orient newcomers, collect the offering, indicate to clergy those parishioners who are unable to receive Communion at the altar rail, and meet other needs to make the service worshipful.
